5 restaurants in the city of Ibiza for this winter

An afternoon browsing the shops, a morning visiting a museum, a Sunday aperitif that goes on until lunchtime... During the winter, there are many times when one feels like having lunch or dinner in Vila (that’s what the locals call the island capital) and there are plenty of good places that haven’t closed for the off-peak season. Here we recommend five restaurants in Ibiza for the winter to fit into your own plans.

Where to eat out in the city of Ibiza in the winter?

Sa Nansa: fish and Ibizan cuisine

On Avenida 8 d’Agost, the Sa Nansa restaurant serves Mediterranean food, but it’s best known for its fish and the island’s traditional recipes, like borrida de ratjada (skate stew) and rice with espardenyas (sea cucumbers), cuttlefish and scarlet shrimps.

La Cava Ibiza: tapas and small dishes for everyone

After work, late breakfast, a few tapas after an afternoon out shopping, dinner with friends... The restaurant-cafe La Cava Ibiza is perfect at any time of the day and its great location in Vara de Rey, in the heart of the city, makes it a very convenient place to eat. Its menu includes tempting tapas and small dishes with touches and flavours from all over the world. A suggestion? Don’t forget to try their ensaladilla con encurtidos caseros de La Cava (Russian salad with homemade pickles of La Cava).

Bar San Juan: good old home cooking

This historic cheap restaurant in La Marina quarter is another of the addresses to bear in mind for the winter, as it remains open all year round except for a 3-week break at Christmas. They offer homemade Mediterranean food and it’s pretty popular, so there’s always a queue for a table as the restaurant is quite small and they don’t take bookings.

Ca n’Alfredo: lo mejor del recetario ibicenco

If you fancy going to a historic establishment to taste Ibiza’s traditional food, head over to Vara de Rey and enter this well-known restaurant in Ibiza. Besides its rice and fish dishes, you will find other specialities, including Majorcan soups, Ca’n Alfredo cod with raisins and pine nuts and its squid stuffed with sobrasada.

Sushiya Aoyama: a taste of Japan in a bite

Since it moved to Calle Arquebisbe Cardona Riera 4, its delicious Japanese food is also available during the winter, at lunchtime from Tuesday to Friday and in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays. The ideal place for fans of sushi and other flavours of the Far East.

Would you rather enjoy the view of Ibiza?

Another option is to eat in a beautiful garden overlooking the city of Ibiza and then head over to the city centre for a stroll or to go shopping. If this sounds good, book your table at Casa Maca and enjoy delicious Mediterranean food made with vegetables from its very own kitchen garden and local produce.

Where to stay in Ibiza in the winter?

If you're not a resident and you've ended up on this post because you're planning a getaway in search of Ibiza’s sun, take note of the following hotels that remain open in the winter:

  • Casa Maca: our boutique country hotel in Ibiza is only 5 minutes away from the centre of Ibiza but it’s surrounded by the peace and quiet of the Ibizan countryside. Also, we host the Sunday Roast food event on Sundays at lunchtime.
  • Hostal La Torre: our hotel with a view of the Mediterranean Sea and the sunset. The best option to forget about the winter watching the sea and listening to our DJs play Balearic Sound on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Sa Clau by Mambo: our urban hotel is in San Antonio, opposite the promenade and the boulevard. It’s an excellent choice if you’re looking for comfort at the best price.
